Nights Bodrum, 2 nights Istanbul
Turkey
Bodrum's south-western
Turkish setting on the Aegean coast brings with it lovely beaches,
coastal attractions and sunny weather, making it perfect for sun
seekers. It is always popular with culture-vultures, owing to
its many archaeological wonders and mosques, while lofty towers
and interesting museums also attract countless tourists to Bodrum.
The premier tourist attraction in Bodrum is the town's main beach,
just east of the iconic Saint Peter's Cathedral. To one side of
the beach is a plush harbour, while backing it is a busy promenade.
The many historical attractions give way to a host of bars and
restaurants by night, while the recently opened Dedeman Aquapark
provides endless family fun.
Apart from being historically and architecturally spectacular,
with a skyline of mosques and minarets surrounded by water, Istanbul
is the only city in the world that lies on two continents. There's
plenty of sunshine, green and blue space, OK food, good beer,
terrible wine, great prices and lots of good Istanbul hotels.
The Turks are very friendly and not too pushy even when selling
a carpet [tho' don't believe every word they say].
It's a lot safer than most European cities and the shopping is
sensational.
And by the way, Istanbul is not Turkey's capital - Ankara is.
